I bought some faux fur during the Spring 2016, which I just loved and imagined would make a cosy Gilet. Luckily I did not have to make a pattern from scratch as I had a denim one which fit me. The alterations to the pattern was a new collar and bust darts. I also narrowed the shoulder seam. I decided to include zipped side pockets aswell which was something new for me. The trickest part was creating the pockets, new lining and facings. However good practice!

I am very pleased with the final outcome. This is also bang on trend right now.

This Gilet has inspired me to create another collection and here is the colour board I designed shortly after..

Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you liked my work displayed on this site and please feel free to comment.

I decided to take on the BA Fashion Design and Production top up year as I really enjoyed studying fashion the last two years and a BA in this area will increase my chances of landing a job in the industry!

My first collection was minimal and was designed for Spring/Summer 2015 resort wear. The inspiration was taken from the Bauhaus movement, which I learnt about in my contextual studies. I liked the simplicity, forms and shapes.

This years collection is inspired from various things. I discovered I could hand draw florals during my work placement and this lead me to take primary/secondary images and research on floral designs currently out there. I visited Hampton court in the Summer of 2015, where florals were abundant in the gardens. Flowers in my parents garden also interested me. I looked into the Art Nouveau movement, whereby artist Mucha who uses flowers in his artwork inspired me too. I researched other floral works such as Liberty and also artist William Morris. A visit to the V and A musuem was helpul.

The other inspiration came from my dissertation subject which was on the Gothic. So I looked into Gothic fashion, architecture, film, art and books. I decided to link my floral designs in with Gothic elements.

Images of this research and final collection images will be posted in a few weeks time.

Hope you will visit again soon.
